Play Calcetto This Weekend with Columbus Futsal at the Columbus Italian Festival
Columbus Futsal teams up with the Columbus Italian Festival for a second year to host calcetto (street soccer) at the 40th anniversary event in Italian Village. Festival goers can join pickup games on the corner of 4th and Lincoln inside the event tonight from 5pm-11pm, Saturday 12pm-11pm, and Sunday 12pm-7pm. Admission is only $5 and kids under 12 are free. Free parking and free shuttles from Columbus State Community College run 1 hour before and 1 hour after festival hours. Special guests and entertainment over the 3-day festival include Austin Giorgio from the “The Voice” with the Rick Brunetto Band, Tre Bella, The Sicilian Tenor, Cucinamo, Bocce Ball and much, much more. Columbus Futsal professional players, youth academy athletes, and mascot will also join the Columbus Italian Festival Parade on Sunday at 1pm. The parade includes exotic Italian cars and well-known High School marching band completion. Parade procession begins in Goodale Park goes through the Short North and finishes at the festival gates.
Columbus Futsal ownership has deep roots within Italian heritage and proudly uses training methods and styles commonly seen in Europe and South America.
Early this year, AS Roma Calcioa5, a very prominent club in Rome, Italy, and Columbus Futsal established the beginning stages of a multicultural futsal partnership for the clubs.
