"Play How the World Plays!"
Columbus Futsal Academy was chosen as 1 of only 16 accredited futsal clubs for the United States Youth Futsal Academy Program during the inaugural year. There are now 25 hand-selected USYF Academies proving that futsal is thriving in the United States. Along similar lines of the US Soccer DA, the USYF Academy will house year-round futsal training, Regional leagues, National showcases, and Championship series with club and collegiate exposure. This 10 month program offered to players 2002-2010. Athletes train 1x/wk in the Spring and Fall and 2x/wk in the Winter and Summer. The Academy players participate in the USYF North Central Region and Columbus Futsal League competitions, as well as, the USYF Championship series and one USYF Regional and National showcase. It is designed as a compliment to club soccer players or used for futsal specific athletes to accelerate through the sport. All players wanting to be on a team must register for our academy evaluations. For full information click the PDF here or in the image below.

As of 4/27/2020, year-round academy players hopefully will be minimally impacted by ODH Covid-19 mandates. To our understanding, with restrictions beginning to lift on May 1st and into Phase 2 of opening businesses, we should be able to meet in groups of 10 or less which is quite easy with our futsal teams. We understand this is subject to change and an exact date has not been given. We hope to see this happen around the middle of May if things continue to go well.
As time goes on and with more information we will be able to address how spectators and larger groups will be handled for events in June, July, and/or August including 2020/21 tryouts and the National Showcase - National ID in Kansas. Currently, USYF has not suggested any additional restrictions past May 1st and as of right now summer programming is still active. All USYF academies and leagues are following their local health department recommendations and will work together to see how this will impact regional or national competitions.
Please continue following your CFA Social eLearning units. CFA hopes to resume our once weekly spring training sessions at a more specific date in May. Expect an emailed schedule from Coach Dante with ZOOM training and more information.
When we resume weekly team training in-person, the following precautions will be taken:
- training groups will be 10 people or less
- stay home if you or anyone in your home is ill
- wear masks and bring hand sanitizer
- do not share water bottles, gloves, shirts, pinnies, etc.
- parents cannot stay for training as this increases our group numbers
- staggered start and stop times between teams
