NEWS: It was brought to our attention last night by the National Futsal Premier League Board and the NFPL Director of Referees, that in addition to last week's incident, GK Gabriel Cardoso and GK Lucas Marques have also been issued a 3 game suspension.
The "Notice of Discipline" was received last night as a shocking hit to the goleiros of Columbus Futsal. Gabriel was rostered to the league crossover game against FC Tryzub (Chicago) tonight. Called up from the reserves will be Sean Culver and Luis Verdum is listed to start. Marques has since stepped down from his 4 year tenure with Columbus Futsal.
The NFPL Board and referee report incite that Marques and Gabriel were given a send off by referees in and around the locker rooms. With language barrier as a huge variable here, the club has asked that Gabriel's suspension be reviewed and/or shortened.
The Columbus Futsal goleiro, Gabriel Cardoso states, "[he] is being accused of something I didn't do on Saturday in the match against Ann Arbor, I would never offend the referees, or any member of it...as this behavior is not my character!"
Columbus Futsal takes on FC Tryzub tonight, 7PM at Columbus Global Academy 4077 Karl Rd. without key players from the start of the season. More to follow as the NFPL updates their conclusion. Tickets: https://www.columbusfutsal.us/tickets
